To be fair I haven't done any of my bios yet... though I've done a fair bit for one day considering everything in the rp's thread was typed up today. :3
I'm probably going to wake up tommorrow and realise it's total crap but oh well.

Well she certainly seems like a great person to have as support. I actually remember having a character years ago who could control light in a similar way. Imagine the two together... they'd be unstoppable.
Also, her power would be great for trolling people. Imagine super-amplified nyan-cat.

Nothing wrong with making a lot of female characters... I find girls funner to draw as well... though I also make all mine look like boys so that point is moot.

Hm, I reckon either registered heros (because we can be FAMOUS & get lots of MONEY ~~& then we can stop robbing banks to get by~~) or independant (because WE DO OUR OWN THANG) but IDK what do you think.

Talking about getting famous and rich, that is kinda the whole point. I kinda wanted a setting where superheroes are very commercialised... to the point they show up on billboards and stuff. One of the many characters I'm thinking about is reasonably famous and sponsored by a Ice-cream company, so his costume has their logo in massive print on it's back.
Heroes need to eat so why not make good money by promoting a brand.

So yeah, heroes that have been around a while (i.e. not rookie heroes.) can be pretty famous if you want them to be.

Going to do a bit more work on it for the next hour or so. Might just completely scrap the whole hero rankings... seems a little irrelevent. Whilst I did like the idea of heroes competing to be the best I'm not sure it would actually work... anyway, just rambling.

I like the idea of the rankings. It gives a sense of drive for the characters to do things, whether just for the fame or to actually make a difference. It also gives the plotline uniqueness, so I don't think you should scrap it.

Anyway... I guess I'll keep it then, I just wasn't sure how to actually implement it as a part of the rp, though I could maybe make a commentator or whatever who announces when heroes are awarded points... but then they'd just be talking to themselves...
I don't know... would anyone want to rp as people from Hero News? Problem is that they wouldn't really be a part of the plot... just sit around the office talking to one another and treating the heroes like movie stars. I mean it might be handy for me to have one such character around for plot progression between dramatic events, but when it comes to the action they wouldn't have much to do... Anyway, just rambling.

In short I think I'll make someone who is a producer/director/head of PR/HR (I'm not sure what it would fall under) who effectively tells the heroes what they need to do and could let me manage things in-universe without cheating.
Anyway, if anyone wants to make a cameraman, commentator or whatever they can. :3

Maybe there could be some form of tracking or point tracking on the heroes themselves? Like something that they wear or carry to show that they are an 'official' hero?

And if I made a journalist character, would that be ok? Perhaps the media could get a bit crazy with the hero tracking?

Yeah, that would be good if its what you want. Might be fun to see what trouble he/she can get into, wheter that be from bugging heroes a bit too much or putting himself in danger in search of the perfect story.

I was thinking of making something akin to a magical girl...but I was wondering if that'd be pushing the boundaries a bit.

You know when I was complaining I had too many ideas I wanted to try? One of those WAS a magical girl, so yeah. Go for it. :3
Part of me was tempted to create a similar character but in the end I changed my mind.

Obviously it depends on a lot of things but I think magical girl type characters would fall under Superhero, I mean there is actually very little that seperates them... I think. I'm not exactly an expert on magical girl shows, most of what I do know is based on parodies...
this isn't a very serious/realistic universe anyway so it doesn't really matter.

The thing is that the term "superhero" is incredibly vague. Obviously people instantly think along the lines of Spider-man, Super Man and *insert noun or adjective here*-man but beyond that both marvel and DC (granted I don't know much, if anything, about DC...) have such a wide range of characters that just about anything is possible. I mean whilst I'd rather things weren't pushed TOO far, but Marvel has everything from magic to hyper-advanced machines and norse gods... and funnily enough all three in one team.

In short, yes a magical girl is fine.

Well, I want people to have characters they like... so if you want a magical girl that's fine. You know, I was reading the wikipedia page on magical girls, and found it funny how much applied to Creadyn. :3

Anyway, I think everything is about ready to go, with the exception of actual characters. I'm worried I might have forgotten something, so if anyone notices anything then please say, but short of working on my own characters I don't think there is anything I can do right now. (Could add more details to the plot/setting but I don't want to overkill.)

Quick question then, who is willing to actually start, and who wants more time to prepare/make characters... and for the latter how much time did such people want?
Also, it would be handy that if people are still developing characters if they could give some idea of what sort of character they are/what affiliation they have... only it would help with planning, and I'd know which side I could put my second/third characters on to help even things out.
I'm sorry to be a pain like this... I'm just excited about getting this underway and obviously I want other people to enjoy it too. I'm also sorry to ask such questions when my own characters aren't finalised... so sorry about that.

erm well the next two characters i'm using/making will be registered heroes
and there will be a reporter person but that's it :v

Really? I kind of forget that most people aren't massive anime nerds like me... though I don't really watch magical girl anime... I think I've seen one though... unless Panty and Stocking counts, which would make it two. Anyway, I doubt that's relevent to ANYTHING so just ignore me...

And I think Panty and Stocking does kind of count as a magical girl anime, as it's supposed to be satirising that kind of genre :3
